Book peeks and stuff
Inside peeks at my upcoming books and author life.
How is it already June!? I’m feeling overwhelmed, as I’m gearing up for the launch of One Mad Cat and the Missing Book on July 7, finishing up my kids’ school year, and moving into our new house. But, there is always a lot of exciting book news to share, so here goes!
Pre-order Goodies
Look at the cute stuff I’ve made for my book pre-orders. 🥰
Here’s where you can get these:
🇺🇸 For U.S. pre-orders, I’ve sent off some goodies to Linden Tree Books, so order through them to get bookmarks, stickers, and signed bookplates.
🇨🇦 For Canada pre-orders, I’m working with KidsBooks in Edgemont (make sure to pick the Edgemont location), so order through them to get bookmarks, stickers, and signed books.
If you’d prefer to order from your local bookstore, I am mailing out One Mad Cat goodies with proof of purchase—with a raffle for a grand prize: a classroom set of bookmarks and stickers, plus a special One Mad Cat tote bag. (Feel free to enter if you order from Linden Tree or Kidsbooks too, you’ll just get extra swag.)
A Peek Inside Lots and Lots of Ocelots
I recently recorded a video for Carly and Adam’s STEM Teacher’s Summit introducing my skip counting picture book, Lots and Lots of Ocelots: A Skip Counting Book, illustrated by Angel Chang and coming out on August 11 with Workman Kids. Carly and Adam will be giving away a copy of the book as part of their event in their Virtual Author Space. Get a peek inside the book and the backstory:
Press
Thank you to the Vancouver Guardian for featuring me in their Arts section. And thank you to Christine Evans for writing a lovely intro for me!
Thank you to Cabinspace for featuring One Mad Cat and the Missing Book on their Kids Must Read Summer Books list.
I also recently had a lovely chat with Kevin Chung live on Substack—you can listen to the full conversation here:
Enjoying the Outdoors
I’ve been enjoying life in North Vancouver with my family. I took my kid fishing (or did he take me?)—and did some sketching while he fished. It was lovely to do some art that was not for my books.
Praise for Ava Lin
Ava Lin: One of a Kind (Book 2 in the series) was recently listed as a Best Book of 2026 by Bank Street Education—with Distinguished Merit!
And Ava Lin: Best Friend! (Book 1 in the series) is a nominee for the Garden State Children’s Book Awards. If you’re in New Jersey, please read and vote for your favorite books.
Secret News is Coming!
I’m sitting on a lot of secret news!!! But, it’s still secret. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share soon. In the meantime…
Happy reading!

So much goodness in one post!
